Blackbird (ブラックバード Burakkubādo) is the second Act of the Wangan Midnight anime adaptation.
This episode features the second part of the rematch between Akio Asakura vs Tatsuya Shima.
This episode also features the first part of the second rematch between Akio Asakura vs Tatsuya Shima.
Synopsis[]
Akio Asakura is in a dogfight between him and the Blackbird. However, Akio is unable to control the Fairlady Z and crashes it, leading to his defeat. The next morning, Ko-Chan refuses to repair the Fairlady Z for Akio, due to its blood-thirsty traits. Akio however, plans to fix up the "Devil Z" by himself, and meets up with Tatsuya Shima, the owner of the Blackbird. After fixing the Devil Z, Akio issues a battle to the Blackbird via Eriko, the sister of the Devil Z's previous owner. The 2 monsters of the Tokyo Expressway begin dueling once again.
Differences from the Manga[]
- Eriko is not seen in the passenger seat of the Blackbird during the rematch.
- The blood seen on Akio's face after he crashes the Devil Z was removed, likely to not make the scene overly graphic.
- The next scene also shows Akio with only 1 band-aids on his left cheek in the anime, compared to the 2 band-aids on both of his cheeks and the bandage wrapped around his head in the manga.
