The No. 3 Man (第3の男 Dai San no Otoko) is the fourth Act of the Wangan Midnight anime adaptation.
Story[]
Reina, Akio and Shima are all in a battle on the Wangan Line, with Reina and her GT-R leading the trio. As the Devil Z and the Blackbird battle side-by-side, Reina overspeeds into the next corner, leading to her GT-R crashing. As Akio walks over to her, Reina questions why he races on the Wangan, with Akio telling her that she'll understand after she fixes up her GT-R. At the same time, Shima is struggling with the power output of his Porsche, noting that it needs to achieve that extra 0.3 bar of boost.
A few days later, Rumi Shimada visits the bar that Akio works at, and tells Akio that he hasn't attended school since the new semester started. Akio then walks over to the Devil Z's storage area, and takes her out for a drive on the Wangan Line. Soon, the Blackbird approaches the Z, but Shima does not have any intentions of battling Akio this time. Rumi then tells Akio that he needs to attend school tomorrow morning, and whilst he does pass Rumi, he doesn't appear in homeroom class.
Rumi then approaches Kou-Chan's workshop to ask where Akio went off to, with him telling her to check the intersection on 3rd street. As Rumi is walking over to 3rd Street, she spots Eriko, who was in the Blackbird's passenger seat last night. Rumi then explains to Eriko her doubts about Akio's attendance, saying that she thinks that Akio's been overtaken by the Devil Z's influence. Eriko then explains that the original owner of the Z was Eriko's late brother, and she says that it constantly gets into accidents, hence its name of the "Devil Z".
During Reina's next photoshoot, Reina asks Yoshiaki Ishida about her encounter with his Testarossa, with Ishida initially denying that she encountered her, but later admitting it. Later on, Ishida attend a party in celebration of his success, and afterwards, he meets Reina sitting on top of her Testarossa, and both of them go on a ride on the Wangan Line. Ishida explains to Reina that he encountered the Devil Z two weeks ago, and how it easily passed him. Ishida explains that he wants to battle the Devil Z again soon, as he's been having trouble with either his gastro or his esophagus. Reina asks if they should visit the hospital asap, with Ishida denying it, saying that he feels alive whenever he visits the Expressway.
Later on, Rumi catches Akio before he can go onto the Wangan, and eventually takes her out for a ride onto the Wangan Line. At the same time, Reina and Ishida continue driving on the Wangan, and a Red R32 GT-R overtakes them. Reina gets annoyed at the GT-R driver's actions, with Ishida noting that they pose no threat. Ishida then speeds up, as he notices the Devil Z approaching them. The Devil Z then easily overtakes the GT-R and then lines-up with the Testarossa. As the Devil Z and the Testarossa continue there battle, the GT-R drivers attempt to overtake both of them, and whilst they do barely get ahead, the GT-R crashes in an attempt to dodge a merging truck.
