- "I'm sure that, soon... My GT-R will be faster than your Z."
- ― Reina Akikawa
The rematch between Akio Asakura and Reina Akikawa is the fifth battle featured in Wangan Midnight.
Prior to the battle[]
After her unexpected encounter with the Fairlady Z, Reina goes to the tuning shop of the tuner Kazuhiko Yamamoto to discuss about the encounter. Reina states that it passed her at 180KM/H and tried to follow but it was too fast. Yamamoto tries to dismiss that it can't be a car from the 70s that passed her but Reina proves the answer by showing him a vehicle magazine from the 70s and pointing at a first generation Nissan Fairlady Z. As Reina still is in disbelief about how a car with only 120PS stock could pass her, Yamamoto suddenly gets familiar of it and starts to mention specific modifications. Yamamoto concludes that she might have encountered the Devil Z.
Yamamoto then talks about it's history of crashes and Akio's current ownership of the Z, He mentions Akio's previous crashes from his battles and his constant return on the Wangan before concluding that Akio and the Z are a good match together. Reina finishes her acting and heads to the Wangan waiting on the sidelines for the Devil Z as on the other hand, Akio prepares the Devil Z for another Wangan run.
During the battle[]
As Reina finally gets a glimpse of the Devil Z passing by, she begins to chase the latter on the Wangan. As she keeps her GT-R on the rear of the Z, The battle is short-lived as Akio notices her giving chase and shifts a gear up outspeeding Reina in her GT-R and leaving her at a far distance making her overwhelmed.
After the battle[]
After the race, Reina stops at the sidelines to look for Akio and the Z. She then spots him and goes down the expressway before complimenting the Z. Reina then skips to the point and asks what is under the hood while Akio senses something familiar about her. Reina reveals herself as a famous model by showing him an nearby poster with her as the face of it as Akio finally understands it, Akio shows the Z's L-28 engine but Reina sees the unguarded key now with the intention of "borrowing" the Z. Reina requests Akio to buy her a drink due to her having "no spare change", Akio accepts the request before hearing a door close and engine start but realizes it's too late as he sees Reina hijacking the Z and taking it to the streets. Reina drives the Z noting it to be different than normal cars but struggles to handle it as a truck unexpectedly catches her off guard causing both vehicles to almost crash but luckily Reina slides off to the side of the road unharmed as Akio arrives driving her GT-R. Akio heads over and checks his Z first while Reina exits the vehicle now understanding the reason of its namesake, she asks Akio how does he drive the car despite its history of ownership and crashes but Akio tosses her a coke fulfilling her request with Reina promising him that her GT-R will be faster than his Z before Akio drives off.
