In 10 Outrun Mode, the BGM track is already assigned, so players are not able to cannot change it. This was only happen in WMMT2 through WMMT3DX+ however starting from MT4, 10 Outrun Mode BGM became available and selectable due 10 Outrun Mode is removed.
During the released of MT5/5DX, 12 song from Maxi 5/5DX are combined with WMMT4 BGM until release of 5DX+, commonly as WMMT5/5DX/5DX+ and WMMT4 are now separated instead combined with 5/5DX song. If you transfer your data from 5DX to 5DX+, you need to acquire MT4 BGM from story mode.
In Maximum Tune series, the genre of each BGM are mostly trance, while the Initial D series uses the Eurobeat for each racing scenes (Hip-Hop/Rap genres in Tokyopop dub). Some songs in Maximum Tune are also rock music with trance elements on it. The song, "Love and Gold", is close to sounding like Eurobeat from Initial D, as it mostly serves as the BGM for Hakone in story mode.
- Fittingly, Eurobeat was featured in Wangan Midnight: The Movie, playing in some scenes.
