Susumu Kimura (木村 進 Kimura Susumu) (mistranslated as Shinji Kimura), is a major supporting character who appears in Wangan Midnight: C1 Runner. He is the owner of Kimura Ironworks and close friend of Nobu Setoguchi.
Biography[]
He runs Kimura Ironworks and is a private tuner who makes his own exhaust manifolds. His fellow racers gathered in the garage of the ironworks, so when he was a child, he thought Nobu was a car dealer. As his fellow racers left one by one, he silently tinkered with his beloved FC, but when he saw Nobu enjoying his FD, which had been in an accident, he decided to retire and teach Nobu everything he knew.
Nobu says, "He's a bit of a pervert who made my car super fast." His special skill is observing the body lines of women through their clothes. He was the one who put the fake RGO works sticker he made himself on Nobu's FD, and he doesn't explain the reason or meaning to Nobu, just telling him, "This is a sticker that will help you drive fast on the Shuto Expressway." He shows his pride as a private tuner by saying, "Even with parts that were put together after a wreck, I can compete on equal terms with a works FD built with expensive parts," but he acknowledges that the FDs set up by Ogishima are "professional work."
During his active years, he was known in the "GT Cars" magazine as "Super Privateer Kimsuk," and was an exceptional FC user on par with "Afro RYO". He was also acquainted with Arai (=RYO), who was the same age, but he became estranged from him because he thought that RYO had plagiarized his ideas in the "GT Cars" magazine . Arai said, "I just made some interesting edits for the magazine, and I didn't intend to steal them".
He tried to "run the C1 outer loop in under six minutes" with Arai, but during his active years, he ended up failing and entrusted his dreams to Nobu's FD, which sacrificed his own FC3S.
