Before Maximum Tune started, Namco has release Wangan Midnight on December 20th. Wangan Midnight R was released in April 2002. A PS2 version of Wangan Midnight was released later in March 21, 2002.
in 2007, a remake version of Wangan Midnight was released for PS3 version and PSP version. The game is released prior the anime version has been aired and they use same voice actor from anime version except Masaki, who not appear in anime version.
The game is developed by Genki, the behind of Tokyo Xtreme Racer because the game is based on Shutoko Battle. Genki also release a port version of Wangan Midnight for PS2, PS3, and PSP.
The soundtrack of Wangan Midnight R are unlockable starting in MT3.
