Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune is an arcade racing video game developed and published by NAMCO and based on the Wangan Midnight manga. It is the first entry of the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune series and the second entry to the Wangan Midnight arcade series after Wangan Midnight R. It was released in 2004 in both Japan and the United States.

A Early version of Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune was named Wangan Midnight: Maxi Boost and showed in AOU 2004.

Game Modes

Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune has two gamemodes: Story Mode and Time Attack Mode.

Story Mode

Players race through 20 different stages on each of the two available tracks, C1 and New Belt Line, each looped 3 times with total of 60 stages.

Time Attack Mode

Players race against the clock to try and get the best time on a specific course.

Tuning card

Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune is first series to use Tuning card to save the player's data.

Trivia

• The Gemballa manufacturer is only available in the Japanese version due to licensing.
  • Example: Tatsuya Shima's Blackbird is a Gemballa 3.8 RS in the Japanese version but in the international version it's replaced with the Nissan Fairlady Z (Z33).

• Characters from Pacman made appears in game as guest character, making first character not originated from Wangan Midnight manga, followed by characters from Taiko no Tatsujin in next series.
• Z31 and Celsior are not selectable by normal but as secret car and only obtained by cheat to unlock that car.
• Both HiAce and Corolla made appears in game but labeled as ??? with Namco livery and appeared as non playable car.
